The Société des Sciences Médicales du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg (SSM) was founded in September 1861 with the aim of “taking care of all studies and research that can contribute to the progress of the different branches of the art of healing”.
With approximately 1,000 members, including physicians, dentists, veterinarians, biologists and pharmacists, the SSM is the largest section of the Institut grand-ducal.
It is one of the main bodies responsible for continuing education and regularly organises conferences and meetings, often in collaboration with foreign universities, research centres and general practitioners and specialists.
